In Gatundu South Sub County, police have initiated an investigation into a chilling incident where a 55-year-old woman, Racheal Wambui Njoroge, was brutally murdered, one of her breasts chopped off, and her lifeless body discarded in a thicket near their home on Sunday evening.
Area Sub County Police Commander Jonathan Koech reported that the body of Racheal Wambui Njoroge displayed stab wounds and injuries on the chest. It was discovered near the Thiririka River, situated between Kiawandiga and Kahata villages. The assailants responsible for this heinous act are currently at large, and their motive remains shrouded in mystery.
Commander Koech mentioned that the deceased had been living with her elderly mother and had attended a church service at PCEA Kiganjo on Saturday morning. She was expected to join a family gathering at Itikarua village.
However, when Wambui failed to appear at the meeting, family members grew concerned and attempted to contact her on her mobile phone, only to find it offline.
“After some time, they received information from a Nyumba Kumi vigilante that they had received a report about a lady’s body that had been found near a bridge some few meters from their home,” explained the Police Commander.

Upon reaching the scene, the family identified the lifeless body as that of Wambui. The body has been moved to the Gatundu Level Five Hospital mortuary, awaiting a postmortem examination as the police intensify efforts to uncover the perpetrators and determine the motive behind this shocking crime.
