A heart-wrenching tragedy struck Embakasi, Nairobi, when 39-year-old Samuel Njiru took the life of his six-year-old daughter before ending his own through suicide on January 19 in the Bamba 70 area.
The man, Samuel Njiru, left a suicide note whose contents have not been disclosed to the public. The lifeless body of the young girl was discovered on the bed with severe cuts on the neck and around the ears. Subsequently, residents found Njiru hanging from the roof of the same house.
Alerted by the residents, the police recovered a blood-stained kitchen knife, a suicide note, and a phone at the scene. The bodies were taken to the City mortuary for a postmortem examination. Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei emphasized the importance of open communication within families to address differences while stating that investigations are ongoing into the murder-suicide incident.

In a separate incident in Kikuyu, Kiambu county, a 33-year-old man named Samuel Mbugua Njau died by suicide in his house. His body was found hanging on a rope, and the motive behind the tragic incident remains unknown.
Meanwhile, in Chanda village, Machakos, a decomposing body was discovered by a herder who was tending to his cows. The victim, identified as Jacques Muuo Kaminda through an identification card, had a sisal rope tied to his neck, suggesting a possible suicide. However, the circumstances are under investigation, and police are exploring the possibility of foul play. The body was moved to Kathiani Level IV hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem and formal identification.
