Popular actor and singer Pascal Tokodi has reportedly parted ways with his wife, former NTV’s Crossover host Grace Ekirapa, after four years of marriage. The celebrity couple, known for sharing their relationship journey on social media, has been facing undisclosed marital woes, and sources reveal they quietly separated in November 2023.
While their public image portrayed them as a couple achieving relationship goals, insiders claim that financial difficulties played a significant role in their break-up. The couple faced challenges from the early days of their marriage, with financial decisions reportedly contributing to their eventual separation.
One particular source close to the couple disclosed that when they initially tied the knot, financial constraints were evident, as they did not even own a car. Tokodi, wanting to start with a more affordable vehicle like a Demio, was persuaded by Grace Ekirapa to take a loan and purchase a Mazda CX-5 to match their celebrity status.
“Pascal and I are super close, and what he said to me is he preferred to buy a cheaper whip, preferably a Demio to begin life with, but Grace advised they get a much bigger machine,” the source explained. “That’s how Pascal took a loan and purchased the Mazda CX-5 at Sh1.9 million that you might have seen him cruise around with. He is still servicing the car loan.”
Their living arrangements also seemed to contribute to the strain on their marriage. The couple first resided in Kitengela, investing thousands in renovations to meet their standards. Later, they moved to Limuru, with Pascal covering all the expenses, as Grace was technically jobless.
“Throughout their marriage, the pressure has always been for Pascal to maintain their expensive lifestyle,” added the insider.
Personal relationships and social circles also played a role in the couple’s challenges. Pascal Tokodi reportedly distanced himself from friends and business associates at Grace’s insistence. Grace was known to have issues with Pascal’s friends, even expressing discontent with his collaborations, such as the one with King Kaka.
“Ever since he married Grace, she has always had an issue with Pascal’s friends. She even didn’t want him to do the King Kaka collabo, arguing that they were exploiting him,” the source further revealed.
